Emily Barnes

Emily helps leaders cultivate the vision they have for their organizations through a people-first approach.
With more than a decade of experience, Emily works with leaders and their teams to tailor messages for impact. Before joining CRA | Admired Leadership, she advised senior-level Army leaders in the Pentagon on communication strategy, supporting the Army Secretariat and Army Headquarters Public Affairs. In addition, she served for more than a decade in the National Guard, first as a cadet in a field artillery unit and most recently as a public affairs officer for an aerial refueling wing.
Before her journey into defense communications, Emily partnered with business accelerators, entrepreneurs, and investors as an independent consultant focused on marketing, public relations, and talent acquisition.
Emily graduated with high honors from the University of New Hampshire, earning a BA in Communication, and was a distinguished military graduate of the University’s Army ROTC program.
She lives in South Florida with her husband and best friend, Doug. In her free time, she volunteers at church, plays tennis, travels to historical sites, and enjoys long-form podcasts. She also enjoys returning to her roots and visiting family in the beautiful countryside of New Hampshire.
